Transfer Deadline Day: Potential Premier League Deals
Although the January transfer window is known to loathed by the majority of football managers, I will be sad to see it coming to a close. For journalists, pundits and fans alike the winter transfer window brings excitement and the prospect of fresh faces to boost the cause of the clubs we love.
In anticipation of tomorrow's show piece event, I've put together some of the best could-be deals. Some of them may be a little speculative, but in the world of football, nothing can be ruled out.
David Villa - The Barcelona forward has struggled to hold down a place since his return from a broken leg and has been linked with a move to the Premier League. Arsenal are known to be keen and with Balotelli leaving Manchester City they to have been linked for the Spanish striker.
Gary Hooper - Norwich have had two bids turned down for the striker, who has rejected Celtic's offer of a contract extension. But would he be willing to leave Celtic before the summer given that they are in the last 16 of the Champions League?
Victor Wanyama - The Kenyan has been linked with a move to Premier League leaders Manchester United for some time now and Sir Alex fueled speculation that a move could be on the cards after watching the talented midfielder at Celtic Park.
Tom Ince - The Blackpool winger has been in brilliant form in The Championship this season. Liverpool, who Ince left as a youngster, are long-time suitors but they may face competition from Reading.
Mohamed Diamé - The Senegalese midfielder only joined West Ham on a free from Wigan last summer but he has a £3.5m release clause in his contract and his performances have caught the eye of Arsenal and Tottenham.
Peter Odemwingie - The Nigerian striker has taken to Twitter to express his displeasure with West Brom for not allowing him to leave but his club are holding out for more than the £3m QPR have offered.
Younès Belhanda - The Moroccan playmaker, who won the Ligue 1 title with Montpellier last season, is a target for various Premier League teams, with Arsenal, Newcastle, QPR and Tottenham all having a look.Danny Graham - The Swansea striker has found first-team opportunities hard to come by this season and Martin O'Neill is ready to spend £5.5m to bring him to Sunderland.
Jack Butland - The 19-year-old England goalkeeper is a target for Chelsea. Cash-strapped Birmingham City would surely be unable to resist any offer.
Peter Crouch - Harry Redknapp wants to sign the Stoke City striker for a fifth time as he looks to rescue QPR.
Rolando - With Ryan Nelsen heading to Toronto and Anton Ferdinand on his way to Turkey, QPR need a centre-back and Porto's Rolando fits the bill.
Alvaro Negredo - Tottenham need a striker. Negredo is available for £15m from Sevilla. Again, with Balotelli leaving Manchester City they could be in the market for the highly rated Negredo.
I shall be updating this article as and when I hear of any big potential transfers between now and the close of the window at 11pm Thursday night!
