One of my favorite parts of every Little Pink Houses of Hope breast cancer family retreat is the final night where we ask each person the question, “What was the best part of your week?” We get amazing life changing answers, humorous accounts of a funny story during the week, and some tears mixed in here and there. Our retreats allow families to reconnect and focus on the journey ahead as they navigate their cancer treatment.
This question is one I think everyone should ask each day because it helps us focus on our gratefulness and keep a positive attitude. Today, the answer to that question is very easy for me, thanks to the World Rugby Shop.
The best part of my day was visiting their offices, meeting their amazing staff, and seeing their heart for service as a company and their dedication to helping cancer survivors. I walked away feeling like part of their family, and I hope that they feel like part of our Little Pink family.
For those of you who may not know, the World Rugby Shop became a partner with Little Pink this past year. They created an amazing line of “Rugby Fights Cancer” apparel and gear and decided to make a difference in the lives of breast cancer patients by giving a percentage of the proceeds to Little Pink. Today, they presented our organization with a check for close to $17,000!
We were thrilled, delighted, and ecstatic! And in true World Rugby Shop form, they set a goal to double that donation in 2013!
And you can help in the fight against breast cancer by supporting the World Rugby Shop and Little Pink Houses of Hope by purchasing gear from the 'Rugby Fights Cancer' line of apparel. And one of the most enjoyable parts of the day was to be able to share it alongside the Elon University Rugby Coach, Ryan Bays, and a group of his players. You see, our partnership with this great company started with the Elon Rugby team reaching out to World Rugby to support a special breast cancer pink game that they had organized. This is proof once again that you never know how your actions will impact others and can cause a ripple effect that just might change the world. So, to each and every person who supported Little Pink Houses of Hope by purchasing “Rugby Fights Cancer” merchandise, we are so thankful. And know that your support is going to make so many families be able to have a great week away from cancer treatment. Thanks!
