60million? Real Madrid would need to forfeit over 70million to sign Bale
I woke up this morning to various articles surrounding Bales possible and protracted move to Real Madrid and the Spanish outfit have really got the wagon moving in the last couple of days.
I really feel for Gareth as he without doubt loves Tottenham Hotspur. After all, we will always be known as the club that made him the player he is today and could well be in the future - world number one. I for one would love him to stay but I just feel that when a force like Madrid comes knocking, it is only going to destabilize the club, playing staff and the player in the future and we may be ignoring the inevitable that sooner or later - Bale may want to test himself alongside Europe's elite.
Somebody said to me this morning that 'no player is bigger than the overall club' and I couldn't agree more. If he were to commit himself to the club for another season, we stand a much better chance of securing that all-elusive top 4 spot - but I just can't see any real long-term future for him at the club after that. One more season with him would literally be all that we get I feel.
Reports suggest that Real Madrid have set a deadline for June 15 to secure any deal for Gareth Bale. However, I feel that a figure in the region of £70-75m plus performance-related add-ons would be needed for Levy to seriously consider selling. After all, Barcelona paid over £50m for a somewhat unproven player in Neymar, who has performed strongly but in an all-round weaker league to that of the English Premier League.
Gareth Bale has all of the necessary attributes to be the world's best when Messi and Ronaldo are out of their their prime and Real will need to take this into account when making any formal bid. If Real are to meet their deadline in signing Gareth Bale, this would leave us with plenty of time to go about our own transfer activity with the likes of David Villa, Leandro Damiao, Jackson Martinez and a few others being linked. I for one trust AVB to bring in the right kind of signings to take Spurs that step further, after all any money made from a Bale sale would certainly be put to good use.
