England thrash Turkey
England made it two wins and 14 goals from their opening two World Cup qualifiers as they cruised to an 8-0 win over Turkey at Fratton Park.
Brent Hill's side had beaten Belarus 6-0 on Saturday and the caretaker manager enhanced his case for becoming Hope Powell's permanent successor with another rout on Thursday night.
Toni Duggan bagged a hat-trick while Ellen White and Eniola Aluko both scored twice with Natasha Dowie completing the scoring.
England made two changes from the match at Dean Court with Siobhan Chamberlain starting in goal and Gemma Bonner making her debut in central defence.
But it was up front where the action was focused as Duggan scored two goals in the first two minutes to get England off to the perfect start.
There was a minute on the clock when White fed Alex Scott down the right and the full-back supplied a low cross for the unmarked Duggan to tap home her fourth England goal.
She had five less than a minute later as Aluko jinked into the box from the right and, while her cross took a deflection of a Turkish defender, Duggan was on hand to fire home a half-volley at the far post.
The visitors had not had a lot of possession but nearly got back into the game out of nothing as Leyla Gungor fired a shot from 25 yards which hit the bar.
It was 3-0, however, just before the half-hour as Fara Williams fed White who tried to go round Fatma Sahin and, when the goalkeeper went down, finished coolly.
Just three minutes later England had another when Karen Carney found Duggan whose low cross from the left was finished by Aluko.
