Nigel Reo-Coker has agreed terms on a move to Major League Soccer with Vancouver Whitecaps, Sky Sports can confirm.
The 28-year-old has shunned options in England and across Europe to finalise a move to America.
Reo-Coker, whose wife is American, has opted to make the move across the Atlantic and is due to fly to Canada on Thursday.
The new MLS season kicks off next month so Reo-Coker will be signed in time to make his debut against rivals Toronto on March 2nd.
"I am delighted, it will be a new experience and I can't wait," Reo-Coker told Sky Sports ahead of flying to Vancouver.
"I am looking forward to the challenge."
Reo-Coker's advisors have been locked in talks with a number of clubs in MLS with New York Red Bulls and Portland Timbers both showing an interest - but the midfielder opted for Vancouver.
Reo-Coker's agent Tony Finnigan admitted that the prospect of opening a new chapter in his career was a big lure.
"It is something new for Nigel, and he is relishing the prospect of going," he told Sky Sports.
"He just wants to play football, and that chance has arisen in Major League Soccer and he now taking that with both hands.
"Everything is sorted, and he just has to finalise the details when he arrives there."
