Vern Cotter: Coach sticking with Clermont Auvergne
Clermont Auvergne coach Vern Cotter has become the latest man to rule himself out of the running for the Ireland job.
New Zealand-born Cotter has been linked with the post in tandem with his former Clermont assistant and now Leinster coach Joe Schmidt.
However, he has said he intends to honour his contract with Clermont which has another year to run.
Former Ireland fly-half Tony Ward had advised the Irish Rugby Football Union to go with the Cotter-Schmidt combination after it decided not to renew Declan Kidney's contract following a disappointing Six Nations campaign.
"Given their track record, the dynamic would be right, provided they are given carte blanche to appoint their own back-room team," he said.
Harlequins boss Conor O'Shea has already said he will not replace Kidney and Saracens have all-but ruled out their head coach Mark McCall.
Australian Ewen McKenzie is the bookmakers' favourite and is reportedly keen on the role after announcing he would step down as Queensland Reds head coach at the end of the current Super Rugby season.
