Arsenal finally get transfer ball rolling

To the relief of Arsenal’s faithful fans the club finally announced its first signing yesterday (1.7.13) with the news that French U-20 international Yaya Sanogo has signed on a long term contract and on a free after his contact at Auxerre expired.

His scoring ratio from last season is very impressive with nine goals coming from only 13 matches but what will worry Arsenal fans immensely is the news that he is also a bit of a sick-note. It is one thing taking a risk on someone who shows great potential but signing a player up with potential that is also known to have injury issues is a real risky strategy for Arsene.

Arsenal fans are all still waiting for the Gonzalo Higuain transfer saga to run its course. Frustratingly, one of the main rivals to Higuain’s signature was Juventus who recently unveiled Tevez in a £12M deal. Fans are starting to wonder why they are holding out for an unproven player in the Premiership who is going to cost somewhere in the region of £24M when a brilliant player who knows the Premiership inside out was available for half that sum. These are all questions that Arsene will need to face if Arsenal makes a slow start to the new season.

To be fair, if you take a moment to search Yaya Sanogo on the net you will find some quite amazing footage of him and if the goals he has scored for France and Auxerre are anything to go by Arsenal fans should be in for a treat.
